If there can be life after death—will there be calm after vengeance, or will chaos rule? Add on Goodreads Review: I wasn't drawn to this book as much as the last book in this series. Series Review: Me Before You Series by Jojo Moyes

Image
I finished the Me Before You series last month and it was a whirl wind of a series. I loved it and hated it all at the same time. Louisa is so infuriating. It was like telling the main character to stay out of the basement, but she goes down there anyway and is killed by the serial killer. She needed to jump in feet first, but she hesitated over and over and over again. The feels that I got from these books were great. That's what you want when you read a book. You want to feel. Anger, love, joy, pain. No matter what it makes you feel, you are feeling and that is the back bone of a good story. You need to read these books. They have a love story that continues to give and give and give. dive in, feel something.

Weekly Menu #323 And The Book Of The Week

Image
Monday! Welcome back to this weeks menu. What a week. I think I might be intolerant to sugar and dairy on top of gluten. So, I've cut out sugars and most dairy and lost 7 lbs in the last week. Weird how that works. Its so hard though. I love me a sugary drink... This weeks book is Symptom of a Heartbreak by Sona Charaipotra. This book sounds really cute and a fun read. I can't wait to dive in. What are you reading this week? Any suggestions for next week? Here's the menu, enjoy! Monday -  Italian Pork Sausage and Pepper Subs Tuesday -  Chicken Schnitzel and Potatoes   Wednesday -  Chicken Parmesan   Thursday -  Mushroom & Spinach Ramen Friday -  Steak and Onion Rings Saturday - Chipotle Cheddar Mac Sunday -  Leftovers Night

Sunday Confessions # 15

Image
Welcome back to my weekly confessions. Unlike last week, I wasn't distracted and remembered to post today. The rain has set in fully. I knew it was coming, but for someone who has lived in Oregon all her life, it still surprises me on how much rain comes all at once. And its not going to stop until spring... Sigh... Well, lets get on with it, shall we? 5 Scary Books To Read Before Halloween

Image
I've been on a horror book binge for the last couple weeks since Halloween is just around the corner, and who doesn't like a good scare this time of year. Here are a few books that I've read, that will get your heart racing and your mind melted.  Horrorstore by Grady Hendrix -  Something strange is happening at the Orsk furniture superstore in Cleveland, Ohio. Every morning, employees arrive to find broken Kjerring bookshelves, shattered Glans water goblets, and smashed Liripip wardrobes. Sales are down, security cameras reveal nothing, and store managers are panicking. To unravel the mystery, three employees volunteer to work a nine-hour dusk-till-dawn shift. In the dead of the night, they’ll patrol the empty showroom floor, investigate strange sights and sounds, and encounter horrors that defy the imagination. A traditional haunted house story in a thoroughly contemporary setting, Horrorstör comes packaged in the form of a glossy mail order catalog, ...

Book Review: Educated by Tara Westover

Image
Title: Educated  By: Tara Westover Genre: Memoir Pages: 334 Release Date: February 20th, 2018 Publisher:  Random House Rating: ★★★★☆ Summary from Goodreads:  Tara Westover was 17 the first time she set foot in a classroom. Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, she prepared for the end of the world by stockpiling home-canned peaches and sleeping with her "head-for-the-hills bag". In the summer she stewed herbs for her mother, a midwife and healer, and in the winter she salvaged in her father's junkyard. Her father forbade hospitals, so Tara never saw a doctor or nurse. Gashes and concussions, even burns from explosions, were all treated at home with herbalism. The family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education and no one to intervene when one of Tara's older brothers became violent. Then, lacking any formal education, Tara began to educate herself. She taught herself enoug...

Movie Review: Aladdin

Image
Title: Disney's Aladdin Genre: Fantasy Release Date: May 24th, 2019 My Rating: ★★★★☆ IMDB Rating: 7.1/10 Cast:  Will Smith ,  Mena Massoud ,  Naomi Scott Summary from IMDB:   A kind-hearted street urchin and a power-hungry Grand Vizier vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true. IMDB Trailer Review: I was a little leery to watch this new version of Aladdin. I love Will Smith, but I also love Robin Williams and the original Aladdin was an iconic performance by Mr. Williams. Nobody can replace him. I was worried that Will Smith would try to replicate the original and fail. I was amazingly surprised.  The roll of Genie was completely redone to match Will Smith's personality. He had a more hip hop element, and it really worked well with the vibe of the movie. It was Genie, but then again it wasn't.  The music was great, the dancing was amazing and the whole movie really sat well with me. Even my hu...

Weekly Menu #322 And The Book Of The Week

Image
Monday... Again... Last week was the longest week ever. The whole family was sick at one point or another. I stayed home from work for many days trying to get them all well and that makes me behind on my work. I'm a little stressed. On another note, I've been looking into my autoimmune disorder and there are certain things that can possible bother my stomach if I eat them. So, I've cut out sugar, gluten (Which I've been off of for years) and most dairy, to try and see how I feel. Something is happening because I've lost six lbs in the last week. Not sure if its because its helping my stomach or just because I'm not eating sugar. Probably a bit of both. This weeks book is Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. My mom recommended this read to me and so far, its really good. Lets dive into it together. Alright, here is this weeks menu. Enjoy! Monday -  Chicken Sausage and Spinach Ravioli Tuesday -  Sesame Beef Tacos Wednesday -  Chimi Chi...

Sunday Confessions # 14

Image
I almost forgot to post my weekly confessions. That was a close one. It has been a long week, even though I didn't really do anything. The boys have been sick and I missed a lot of work because of it. I spent most of the week reading on my couch. I know it doesn't sound too terrible, but there is only so much seclusion I can take.   Sunday Confessions # 13 ~ Weekly Menu #321 And The Book Of The Week ~ TV Review: Stumptown ~ Book Review: Wild Girls by Rory Power ~ Book Review: Now Entering Addamsville by Francesca Zappia Weekly Menu #322 And The Book Of The Week ~ Movie Review: Aladdin ~ Book Review: Educated by Tara Westover ~ Book Review: The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren ~ Sunday Confessions # 15 Lets hope this coming week will be back to normal. Book Review: Now Entering Addamsville by Francesca Zappia

Title: Now Entering Addamsville By: Francesca Zappia Genre: Paranormal Pages: 368 Release Date: October 1st, 2019 Publisher:  Greenwillow Books Rating: ★★★★☆ Summary from Goodreads:  Zora Novak has been framed. When someone burns down the home of the school janitor and he dies in the blaze, everyone in Addamsville, Indiana, points a finger at Zora. Never mind that Zora has been on the straight and narrow since her father was thrown in jail. With everyone looking for evidence against her, her only choice is to uncover the identity of the real killer. There’s one big problem—Zora has no leads. No one does. Addamsville has a history of tragedy, and thirty years ago a similar string of fires left several townspeople dead. The arsonist was never caught. Now, Zora must team up with her cousin Artemis—an annoying self-proclaimed Addamsville historian—to clear her name. But with a popular ghost-hunting television show riling up the townspeople, almost no support f...

TV Review: Stumptown

Image
Title: Stumptown Genre: Cop show Release Date: September 25th, 2019 My Rating: ★★★★☆ IMDB Rating: 7.6/10 Cast:  Cobie Smulders ,  Jake Johnson ,  Michael Ealy Summary from IMDB:  A sharp-witted army veteran becomes a private investigator in Portland, Oregon, where she takes care of her brother. IMDB Trailer Review: Not only is this show based in my second home town of Portland Oregon, but its awesome. I'm not biased or anything, lol. We follow a pretty messed up army vet with PTSD who can't seem to get along in life. She gets pulled into a world of private investigating and all hell breaks loose. I loved the wit and dialogue in this show and the characters are amazing. The show is based of a comic book with the same name. Now I know what I want to read next.

Weekly Menu #321 And The Book Of The Week

Image
Monday! We keep going round and round and round. Always coming back to Monday. It was a rough week. The boys were sick and I missed a few days of work. Friday, the whole family dropped one right after another. Even my husband and I were sick. At least when the boys are sick, they are quiet and don't move much, so I was able to rest myself and get better. Hopefully, that is the worst of it. This weeks book is Wanderers by Chuck Wendig. I thought since it was October, I would read as many creepy and terrifying books this month as I possibly could. This one sounded really intense. Who is with me? Its time for your weekly menu. Enjoy! Monday -  Parmesan-Crusted Chicken Tuesday -  Smothered Pepper Jack Burger   Wednesday - Tuscan Sausage and Pepper Spaghetti   Thursday - Bratwurst with Tangy Apple Cabbage   Friday -  Steakhouse Pork Chops Saturday - Onion Grilled Cheese   Sunday -  Leftovers Night
