Title:  Downton Abby: New Era Genre:  Historical Fiction Release Date:  May 20th, 2022 My Rating: ★★★★★ IMDB Rating:  8.6/10 Cast: Elizabeth McGovern , Hugh Bonneville , Michelle Dockery Watch On: In Theaters   Summary from IMDB: Follow-up to the 2019 feature film in which the Crawley family and Downton staff received a royal visit from the King and Queen of Great Britain.   IMDB Trailer   Review: I don't know if you are a fan of Downton Abby, but you should be. Even thought this show is set in post world war 2 era, they humor that is sprinkled throughout the stories is the best. Its sass to the extrema. My husband went with my mom, dad, sister and I to the theater opening weekend and he couldn't stop laughing. Along with the humor aspect, there was also mystery and some heart breaking moments that really brought emotional depth into the mix. This was a whole movie that made me love this cast even more. Can't wait for this movie to come out in s...

A single mother at that. Sure, she fits in with her starched dresses, string of pearls, and floral aprons. Then there are the hushed and mystical consultations with neighborhood women in distress. The unsavory, mysterious plants in the flower beds. The divined warning to steer clear of a boyfriend whose fate is certainly doomed. But as the daughter of this bewitching homemaker comes of age and her mother’s claims become more and more outlandish, she begins to question everything she once took for granted.   Add on Goodreads   Review: Do you know how hard it is to find short stories at the digital library? Books To Read This Summer 2022

Image
With Summer almost here and the weather finally warming up here in the PNW, its time to layout some of the books I want to read this summer. Each book was picked randomly from my TBR pile. Its a large list of over 300 books. The Girl from Everywhere (The Girl from Everywhere #1) by   Heidi Heilig Nix has spent her entire life aboard her father’s ship, sailing across the centuries, across the world, across myth and imagination. As long as her father has a map for it, he can sail to any time, any place, real or imagined: nineteenth-century China, the land from  One Thousand and One Nights , a mythic version of Africa. Along the way they have found crewmates and friends, and even a disarming thief who could come to mean much more to Nix. But the end to it all looms closer every day. Her father is obsessed with obtaining the one map, 1868 Honolulu, that could take him back to his lost love, Nix’s mother. Even though getting it—and going there—could erase Nix’s very existenc...

Title:  Squid Games Genre:  Drama/Thriller Release Date:  September 17th, 2021 My Rating: ★★★★☆ IMDB Rating:  8/10 Cast: Lee Jung-jae , Park Hae-soo , Wi Ha-Joon Watch On: Netflix   Summary from IMDB:  Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes. A survival game that has a whopping 45.6 billion-won prize at stake.   IMDB Trailer   Review: When this show first came out in September, my husband heard a lot of good things about this show from his friends at work. I had actually not heard of the show at all, so when we started watching it, I was not prepared for the crazy brutal nature of this show. Think Korean Hunger Games. It has taken me this long to get past the first episode... And of course I binged it. It really is an incredibly intense show with a backstory that matches. At first, the characters don't take the squid games seriously. Not u...
