Sunday Confessions #302

Song of the Forever Rains

E.J. Mellow

DNF at 19%.

Song of the Forever Rains by E.J. Mellow had all the ingredients for a sweeping fantasy—mystery, magic, and a dark, lyrical atmosphere—but unfortunately, it just didn’t catch my attention. Despite a promising premise and a unique magical system, I struggled to connect with the characters and found the pacing too slow to keep me engaged. The writing is lovely, but the story never quite pulled me in, and I ultimately decided to set it aside. A DNF for me, but readers who enjoy slow-burn fantasy with poetic prose may still find it worth exploring.

126/100 2025 Reading Challenge

That’s it for this week’s bookish confessions—DNFs, surprise favorites, and everything in between. As always, reading is a journey full of twists, turns, and the occasional plot twist I didn’t see coming (in books and in my own reading habits). Let me know what you’ve been reading, loving, or abandoning lately—I’d love to hear your confessions too. Until next week, happy reading and may your next book be unputdownable!
