Review:

I watched this movie with my husband and youngest son who is seven. Although I enjoyed the movie, I do have some mixed feeling.

First off, I know this movie is based on a children's book and sometimes deep details are walked over to keep the story line simple and move the action forward in a way that children will stay engaged, but in a movie, no matter how juvenile the story line is, somethings just cannot be explained away, or assumed because the script writers are lazy and don't care to fill in the holes. Point and case. When Artimes finds out what his father is up to and goes into the secret basement, somehow, he knows just how to find his fathers journal and goes to it without hesitation even though the knowledge of this basement was previously hidden from him. If I could have at least a few wrong decisions before Artemis came to his conclusion and found the journal, it would have been more realistic.

Even with my grievances, My seven year old son sat through the whole movie, laughing and asking questions which is out of the normal for him. He has autism and tends to stuff his face in his games so it was nice to see him having fun.

All in all, the movie was worth the watch. It had a fun story line that was unique. The cinematic were well done and fun. You can watch it now on Disney+.
