Review:
This was a hard read for me and I know I'm in the minority of reviews since I only gave it 3 stars, but I'm not the kind of reviewer that loves a book just because I 'm obsessed with the author. I loved the thorns and roses series, but this book was not up to par.It was long and slow, and I couldn't fall in love with the characters. I found that some people were just thrown into the story without any explanation as to who they were, but I got the feeling they were supposed to be important.
I wanted to fall in love with the characters and revel in the magical world building I was so used to, but instead, I was left with questions and felt as if I've been here before. If only I could have loved this one.
I'm really curious about this book, the opinions are rather mixed. Although I will definitely read it at some point, I'm already expecting that I wan't love it. I did enjoy Maas' other novels while at the same time having an entire list of issues I had with them.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that Maas has some epic ideas, but her execution of them is hit or miss. You will have to let me know what you think of this book when you get around to reading it.
