Review:
Garth Nix was the one author that really got me into reading as a child. I own all his books and love the Abhorsen series. It should be no shock then to know that when I heard this book was coming out, the story of where it all began, I was jumping for joy. I'm sure my husband thought I was completely insane.
I loved the characters in this book. Terciel and Elinor come from very different backgrounds but have a shared gift in the old magic. Although one is the Abhorsen in waiting and the other is from the New Kingdom, they fit together like a glove.
The world is still as dark and compelling as in past books, and the use of necromancy and magic is still so vivid and wonderful. I would really recommend this book to anyone who has had a hard time getting into fantasy. Its an easy read in a world that begs to be explored.
